Oh my dear founder…

The day we signed the play2match articles of association, I didn't just sign a piece of paper. I signed a life change. Maybe it had all started much earlier, but that's when it became real.

I understood early on that being a founder isn't a title. It's a state of mind: it gets under your skin and changes the way you breathe, talk and think. It doesn't switch off in the evening and it doesn't go on vacation. It's a life choice, and when you make it, everything else gets reprioritized.

In the months that followed I lined up three things. They're the same ones I reread when the days get heavy.

That's why this diary exists: to remind me what I'm learning while I run. To pause the flow for a moment and breathe. Because every day as a founder is a lesson, and some lessons I can't afford to forget.

What does Simone take away from it?

Being a founder is all-consuming. It sucks you in, but it's also the most alive thing you can do. You need obsessive self-care: training, sleeping, eating well, emptying yourself of anxiety and anger. The startup grows only if you grow too. You need a long view. In the short term everything looks huge, in the long term almost nothing really is.
